J A S O N U R B A NURBANSTUDIO + EXHIBITIONS + ACADEMICS + BIBLIOGRAPHY + LINKS + CONTACT
From Frans Masereel Centrum in Kasterlee Belgium. Leslie and I proposed and executed a collaborative silkscreen piece, House/Huis, over the course of a three-week residency.

The idea was to get to Belgium and respond to the architecture and design we found there to make modular, three-dimensional prints. Here is a house that was fairly representative of local architecture. We used the house form as inspiration for our project. Th eimagery comes from The Smurfs comic strips (Peyo was Belgian). The second pic is our prototype.

These show the screen-printed houseforms cut, scored, folded, and then stacked.

A third houseform on the drying rack... one run away from being finished. Below is the uncut, finished version.

We are still in production mode on these... slowly but surely they are being completed. Ideally, they will be combined to form a larger piece.

Maoam brand candy had these really disturbing cartoons on thier candy packages- you can see this green bean character doing inappropriate thisngs to fruit. I transcribed them for posterity. You can also see the Jupiler beer logo and a preliminary plan for the houseforms.

This is another small screenprint I made during some down time...

These gnomes were all over the place.
